Punt, Pass & Kick competition set Sept. 14

The Waterloo High School Athletic Booster Club will present their 11th annual NFL/Pepsi Punt, Pass & Kick competition with registration starting at 5 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Waterloo High School baseball field.

This free competition, which tests distance, accuracy and skill in punting, passing and kicking a football, is open to both boys and girls ages 8-15 (must be the appropriate age as of Dec. 31, 2007). Registration is from 5-5:30 p.m. and the competition will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate or religious document (baptismal certificate) to the competition for age verification. Students on an Illinois high school football team are not eligible to participate based on IHSA rules.No football shoes, cleats, or turf shoes will be permitted-only soft-soled sneakers will be allowed. Each contestant will compete with one punt, one pass and one kick combining for a total score. Four boy and four girl winners will be awarded a trophy and advance to the Waterloo Sectional Competition on Oct. 6.

Sectional winners could advance to the team championship competition before the Green Bay Packers/St. Louis Rams game on Dec. 16 at the Edward Jones Dome.

All participants will receive an authentic Punt, Pass & Kick certificate. Trophies will be presented on the football field during halftime of the varsity football game. For more information call Lenny Voelker at 939-3570.
