MILLSTADT: Homecoming this weekend

Come one, come all: Millstadt calls on residents to view the annual Homecoming float parade and enjoy carnival entertainment this weekend.
The 2008 Millstadt Homecoming sponsored by the Millstadt Commercial Club will take place Saturday-Sunday at Liederkranz Park.
Advance tickets are being sold until Saturday at Casey's General Store, Millstadt Super Mart and Gas-n-Grab. Twenty-five tickets can be purchased for $20 in advance.Tickets are $1 apiece during the picnic.
"It's a good deal to take advantage of," Commercial Club President Charlie Todd said.
This year's parade theme is "The Best of the Eighties."
The parade starts at 5 p.m. Saturday and at 4 p.m. Sunday during Homecoming. Approximately 14 floats are in production for the event.
"Everyone comes up with their own ideas and with the theme being the 80's, who knows what will come out," Todd said.
"I expect to see a float featuring the Cardinals' 1982 World Series win."
The Millstadt Community Band, Columbia High School Band, Bud Light Brigade, Ainad Temple Brass Band, Ainad Drum and Bugle Band, Millstadt Marchetts, Marilynes Baton Dance Team, Millstadt Community Band, Belleville West Marching Band, Taylor Dance and Waterloo German Band will march in the parades.
The park opens at 4 p.m. Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday and the Tinsley Amusements will provide carnival rides for entertainment. Bingo will also be set up. Ticket sales end at 11:30 p.m. nightly and beer will not be served after midnight.
"There will be plenty of food, fun, drink and friends," Todd said.
The bands the Saloonatics and Aftershock will perform from 8 p.m.-midnight Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
