MONROE COUNTY: Celebrating one year in community
Dr. Jay Pickett has been a No. 1 provider of Healthcare in Waterloo and the surrounding community since 1990.
His colleagues—Jennifer Riebeling, Physician Assistant, and Kathy Probst, Nurse Practitioner—join him in meeting peoples’ healthcare needs and giving back to the community.They performed over 180 sports physicals for Waterloo, Valmeyer, Columbia and Gibault high schools, donating all the proceeds to the schools totaling over $4,300. Family Practice Associates participated in YMCA Family Day and the Monroe County Health Fair. Dr. Pickett continues to donate his time as Team Physician for Columbia High School. As the practice continues to grow, they welcome new patients. Dr. Pickett prides himself in having a dedicated and friendly staff who make sure their patients’ needs are met both professionally and efficiently.
FPA Cosmetic Med Spa is located within Family Practice Associates. Although they share one office, people do not need to be a patient to enjoy the services they offer. During their first year, they have completed over 1,800 procedures to male and female clients.

"The Med Spa has come a long way in the past 12 months" Dr. Pickett said. "We began with the Palomar IPL Laser System, which offers Laser Hair Removal, Skin Resurfacing for deep wrinkles and acne scaring, and Photorejuvenation which treats sun spots and rosacea. We partnered with SkinCeuticals Skin Care. These products are pharmaceutical grade, physician directed and are not available to the public over the counter. We also partnered with ColoreScience mineral makeup, one of the top selling 100 percent mineral makeups in the country."
In February of this year, Probst, Board Certified Nurse Practitioner, became the first in the area to offer Botox and Dermal Fillers. These products alone or in combination of each other can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and restore lost collagen in the lips and face. Dr. Pickett and Probst also began offering sclerotherapy treatments, which treat varicose and spider veins in the legs. In the spring, FPA continued to expand their services with Chemical Gel Peels, which improve the appearance and texture of the skin.
Starting this month, FPA’s excited to introduce Karen Laumbattus, Certified Massage Therapist. She will offer spa services, which include full body and chair massages, herbal body wraps, facials and hand/foot reflexology. Laumbattus specializes in Swedish, Thai, Acupressure Myofascial Release and Deep Tissue massages.
In addition to the comprehensive medical spa services, FPA offers personalized, private spa parties, custom skin analysis and makeup applications. They also have gift certificates available for those looking for that unique gift.
